Protolabs Announces Hyderabad GCC Launch

Protolabs is set to establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad as part of its expansion into India.
Operations to Begin This Month
The company is expected to commence operations this month, marking its entry into India’s growing GCC ecosystem.
Planned Workforce Expansion
Protolabs plans to scale the Hyderabad centre to around 200–300 employees in the near term. Hiring will primarily focus on engineering roles.
Focus on Engineering and Digital Manufacturing
The GCC will work on advanced engineering, digital manufacturing technologies, and product development. It will support Protolabs’ capabilities in rapid prototyping and on-demand production services.
Leadership Engagement and Strategic Discussions
A delegation from Protolabs, including CFO Dan Schumacher, CHRO Agnes Semington, CTO and CAIO Marc Kermisch, and India Managing Director Ashish Sharma, met Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu to discuss the company’s India entry strategy.
Strengthening Hyderabad’s GCC Ecosystem
The proposed centre is expected to contribute to capabilities in rapid prototyping and low-volume manufacturing, further strengthening Hyderabad’s position as a destination for engineering-led GCCs.
