Uttar Pradesh to Host First Global Capability Centre (GCC) Conclave, Eyes Global Investment Surge

In a bold move to position itself as a premier global investment destination, Uttar Pradesh is set to host its first-ever Global Capability Centre (GCC) Conclave on Tuesday. The event follows the recent launch of the state’s comprehensive GCC policy , which is expected to drive transformative growth across sectors and generate significant employment opportunities.
Strategic Focus on Technology-Led Investment
Organised by Invest UP, the state’s investment promotion and facilitation agency, the conclave will bring together industry leaders, policy makers, business associations, and key stakeholders to explore the strategic vision for GCC-led development. The event will be chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh.
“The conclave aims to showcase Uttar Pradesh’s unmatched investment potential in building a world-class GCC ecosystem,” said an official spokesperson
GCCs, or Global Capability Centres, are offshore hubs that handle technology, analytics, finance, HR, and other core functions for multinational companies. India already hosts over 1,700 functional GCCs, and this number is projected to grow rapidly
Policy Backed by Subsidies, Infrastructure, and Talent
Earlier in May, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved a robust GCC policy, offering financial incentives, subsidies, and customized support to global enterprises. The policy is strategically designed to leverage UP’s strengths — a large skilled workforce, affordable operations, digital connectivity, and expanding physical infrastructure
“The new GCC policy will help Uttar Pradesh become the next big tech and innovation hub in India,” said Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Industries and Infrastructure Development.
Beyond NCR: Growth into Tier-2 Cities
While major GCCs are already underway — with Microsoft’s 10,000-seater development centre and MAQ Software’s 3,000-seater facility in Noida — the state government is now actively courting investments in Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, and Prayagraj.
The initiative is expected to create over two lakh jobs in sectors like IT, analytics, HR, finance, customer support, and next-gen tech, catalyzing balanced development across urban and rural Uttar Pradesh
