New Zealand-Based Travel Tech Firm Opens Global Capability Center in India

Gujarat is fast emerging as a powerhouse for global technology and innovation, and the latest milestone in this journey is the launch of Infineon Technologies’ Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Gift City, Gujarat. The Germany-based semiconductor giant announced its decision to establish this centre on Monday, marking a significant step in India’s growing semiconductor and technology ecosystem
A Major Boost for Gujarat’s GCC Policy
Earlier this year, on February 11, 2025, the Gujarat government introduced its GCC policy, aiming to attract ₹10,000 crore in investments, create 50,000 jobs, and establish at least 250 new GCCs in the state. Infineon’s announcement comes as the first major implementation of this ambitious plan.

During the inauguration, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Last month, the state government had revealed its GCC policy. In a short time, the first GCC in the state is being inaugurated.” This move underscores Gujarat’s rapid strides in becoming a preferred destination for high-tech industries
Why Ahmedabad? Infineon’s Strategic Choice
Infineon’s decision to establish its second GCC in India at Ahmedabad—rather than traditional tech hubs like Bengaluru or Hyderabad—was a well-thought-out move.

Vinay Shenoy, MD of Infineon Technologies in India, highlighted the rationale behind this decision in an audio-visual presentation at the event. He explained, “When we began thinking about setting up Infineon’s second GCC in India, we did not want to follow the conventional path. We wanted to be part of an emerging and unique ecosystem with massive potential. Ahmedabad checked all the right boxes.”

Ahmedabad has been steadily transforming into a major tech hub, initially with fintech and now with semiconductors. The city’s rapid development, strong government policy support, and affordable living make it an attractive destination for companies looking to invest in cutting-edge technology.
Strengthening India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem
The entry of global travel tech players is set to drive AI-driven personalization, real-time data analytics, and next-gen digital solutions for the travel industry. As India continues to attract international businesses, its GCC ecosystem is on track for unprecedented growth
