Magnum Ice Cream Company Plans Pune GCC and Mumbai Regional Headquarters in Maharashtra

The Magnum Ice Cream Company has announced plans to establish major operations in Maharashtra, including a ₹900-crore Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Pune and a regional headquarters in Mumbai for its Middle East, Turkey, and South Asia (METSA) operations.
The development was highlighted following a meeting between Devendra Fadnavis and Peter ter Kulve in Mumbai.
According to the Chief Minister, discussions focused on the company’s Mumbai regional headquarters, India growth plans, the development of its Pune GCC, and future areas of cooperation.
Pune GCC to Support Global Operations
As part of the company’s expansion strategy, Pune will host Magnum’s first Global Capability Centre in India.
The GCC is expected to support global operations across:
  • Supply chain optimization
  • AI-led logistics
  • Finance analytics
  • Digital operations
The project is expected to create more than 500 high-skill jobs across analytics, artificial intelligence, automated logistics, and global finance functions.
Industry executives noted that the move reflects a broader trend of multinational companies expanding strategic and operational functions in India beyond traditional manufacturing and back-office activities.
Mumbai to Serve as Regional Headquarters
Alongside the Pune GCC, Mumbai is being positioned as the regional headquarters for the company’s Middle East, Turkey, and South Asia operations.
The regional office is expected to support leadership, business operations, and regional decision-making activities across the METSA region.
The dual-hub model combines strategic leadership functions in Mumbai with operational and digital capabilities in Pune.
Expansion Supports Export and Supply Chain Growth
The Maharashtra investment forms part of a broader transformation of Magnum’s India operations.
The company plans to expand its manufacturing presence in India from one facility to four, strengthening export readiness and regional supply-chain resilience.
According to the article, Maharashtra’s logistics infrastructure, including access to Mumbai Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, provides strategic advantages for exports to West Asia and nearby international markets.
The company is also increasing its focus on premium dairy-based ice cream products while leveraging India’s dairy ecosystem and local sourcing capabilities.
Focus on Premium Market Growth
The article highlighted Magnum’s continued focus on premiumization within India’s ice cream market.
While operating in a highly competitive market, the company continues to expand its presence in premium and super-premium product categories.
The company is also investing in cold-chain infrastructure and quick-commerce partnerships, including collaborations with major delivery platforms to strengthen market reach and distribution capabilities.
Maharashtra Strengthens Position in GCC and Corporate Operations Landscape
The planned investment reflects growing competition among Indian states to attract not only manufacturing projects but also global corporate operations, analytics centers, and capability hubs.
With the proposed Pune GCC and Mumbai regional headquarters, Maharashtra aims to strengthen its position as a destination for global business operations, digital transformation, analytics, and enterprise capability development.
