SolarEdge Expands Global R&D Operations with New India Development Center in Bengaluru

SolarEdge Technologies has announced the opening of its new Research and Development campus, the India Development Center (IDC), in Bengaluru, strengthening the company’s global engineering and innovation capabilities.
The expansion is aimed at scaling SolarEdge’s engineering operations and supporting the development of next-generation power electronics and smart energy technologies. The Bengaluru center will contribute to global product development and innovation support functions across the company’s worldwide operations.
Bengaluru Center to Strengthen Global Engineering Capabilities
According to the company, the new India Development Center will support hiring across multiple engineering functions, including:
  • Embedded power electronics
  • Embedded control systems
  • Hardware design
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Integration testing
The company stated that the center will broaden SolarEdge’s access to engineering talent while supporting its globally integrated R&D network.

Liron Har Shai stated that expanding the company’s R&D footprint in Bengaluru will strengthen SolarEdge’s ability to innovate at scale, accelerate product development, and collaborate with engineering talent.
According to Liron Har Shai, the investment reflects the company’s confidence in Bengaluru’s engineering ecosystem and its commitment to building a globally integrated R&D organization.
Sanjay Puri highlighted India’s strategic importance both as a growing solar market and as a location for global engineering centers.
He stated that the new R&D and technology center represents an investment in infrastructure, engineering talent, and innovation capabilities supporting future solar growth in India and global markets.
Sivamani Kukunur added that the India Development Center will serve as part of SolarEdge’s global R&D network and contribute to the development of next-generation smart energy technologies.
SolarEdge Expands Global Innovation and Product Development Efforts
Founded in 2006 in Israel, SolarEdge developed a distributed solar inverter architecture designed to improve energy generation efficiency through module-level optimization technology.
Over the years, the company expanded its product portfolio beyond power optimizers and inverters into:
  • Energy storage solutions
  • EV charging
  • Home energy management
  • Grid services
SolarEdge currently operates across more than 130 countries through its global manufacturing and engineering network.
Company Continues Turnaround and Global Expansion Strategy
