Illumia has opened a new office for its Global Capability Center (GCC) in Chennai, reinforcing its long-term investment in India as a hub for global technology and product development. The facility, located at International Tech Park, was inaugurated on April 27 in the presence of senior leadership.
Chennai at the Core of Growth Strategy
The expansion builds on nearly 14 years of Illumia’s presence in Chennai, highlighting the city’s role as a core technology base. The GCC currently has around 80 employees working across technology, product, cloud, and business functions including finance, marketing, and human resources.
Focus Areas for Capability Expansion
The Chennai GCC is set to expand its capabilities across key areas such as cloud engineering, information security, and product engineering. These focus areas align with Illumia’s broader goal of strengthening its global delivery and product capabilities.
Hiring to Scale Specialized Talent
Illumia confirmed an active hiring push for the Chennai centre, with emphasis on specialized roles in cloud engineering, information security, and product engineering. These roles are critical to supporting the company’s global technology platform.
Leadership Highlights Long-Term Commitment
Company leadership emphasized the strategic importance of Chennai in Illumia’s growth plans. CEO Greg Brown stated that India offers strong technical talent and that the Chennai team is contributing to product, engineering, and operational capabilities for future growth.
General Manager Srinivasgopal Raman highlighted that the local team is focused on building capabilities across cloud, security, and product engineering to support the company’s next phase.
Role of GCC in Global Operations
Illumia operates as part of Roper Technologies and provides platforms supporting payments, access, foodservice, and credentialing systems for over 10,000 institutions globally. The Chennai GCC plays a key role in developing and supporting these capabilities, acting as an extension of global product and engineering teams.
India’s Growing Importance in GCC Expansion
The expansion reflects a broader trend of global companies increasing investments in India through capability centres focused on engineering and product development. Chennai continues to attract such investments due to its strong talent pool, infrastructure, and cost advantages.
Outlook for Future Growth
With the new facility and ongoing hiring, Illumia’s Chennai GCC is expected to expand in both size and scope. The focus on advanced areas like cloud, security, and product engineering positions the centre as a key driver of innovation and global delivery.
