Texas Instruments Opens Advanced Semiconductor R&D Centre in Bengaluru

Texas Instruments has opened a new advanced semiconductor research and development centre in Bengaluru to expand its chip design operations in India. The facility was inaugurated by Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Advanced Design and Testing Capabilities
The newly launched centre features multiple integrated circuit design laboratories along with an end-to-end reliability laboratory. The reliability lab is designed to test semiconductor products under varied environmental conditions, supporting the full product development lifecycle.
Strengthening India’s Semiconductor Talent Base
Speaking at the inauguration, Ashwini Vaishnaw said that Texas Instruments has played a pioneering role in India’s semiconductor journey and has contributed significantly to the development of the country’s semiconductor design talent ecosystem.
Texas Instruments stated that the new centre strengthens its capabilities in analogue and embedded processing technologies and enhances its ability to support customers and the broader electronics design ecosystem in India.
Growing Semiconductor Investments in India
The expansion comes at a time when India continues to attract semiconductor investments focused on design and engineering. The government has reported progress with 10 semiconductor units under construction, with four having recently started pilot production.
Other multinational semiconductor companies are also expanding design centres and engineering teams across cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Noida.
Policy Support and Ecosystem Development
Government policy in 2026 continues to emphasise design capabilities, talent development, and ecosystem readiness as core pillars of the India Semiconductor Mission, alongside manufacturing and packaging initiatives.
The continued expansion of semiconductor design centres is sustaining demand for engineering services, testing support, and embedded software capabilities, supported by system integrators, ER&D service providers, and global capability centre partners.
Texas Instruments’ Long-Term Presence in India
Texas Instruments noted that it was the first multinational company to establish a semiconductor R&D centre in India in 1985. Over the past four decades, the company has steadily expanded its footprint, supported by a large local workforce and growing customer engagement.
Beyond R&D, the company has also opened an additional sales office to deepen engagement with Indian customers.
India’s Role in Global Semiconductor Development
As global semiconductor companies distribute product development across regions, India continues to be a key location for chip design and engineering execution. The new Texas Instruments centre adds capacity in areas central to global semiconductor development.
