Strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s Global Investment Network
During his official visit to Australia, Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT, Electronics, and Education, Nara Lokesh, held a high-level meeting with Bijal Sejpal, Chief Operating Officer of Bupa Asia Pacific, and Dinesh Kanteti, Head of Enterprise Intelligence.
In the meeting, Lokesh invited Bupa to explore opportunities to establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Visakhapatnam, highlighting the city’s rapid transformation into a major hub for IT, data centres, and digital innovation.
He also encouraged Bupa to collaborate with the Andhra Pradesh government to enhance rural digital healthcare infrastructure across the state — a key pillar of the state’s inclusive development strategy.
Positioning Andhra Pradesh as a Global Investment Hub
Minister Lokesh underscored that Andhra Pradesh is fast emerging as one of India’s most dynamic investment destinations, backed by:
- World-class infrastructure across coastal and tech corridors,
- A highly skilled and future-ready workforce, and
- Progressive, business-friendly policies that encourage foreign investment and innovation.
He emphasized Visakhapatnam’s evolution as a preferred GCC destination, driven by robust IT infrastructure and growing participation from global enterprises across healthcare, fintech, and analytics sectors.
Bupa Recognizes Andhra’s Vision for Growth
Responding to the proposal, Bupa Asia Pacific COO Bijal Sejpal lauded Andhra Pradesh’s forward-looking approach and expressed strong interest in exploring strategic collaboration.
Sejpal shared that Bupa, headquartered in London, currently serves over 38 million customers across 190 countries, with operations spanning health insurance, digital health solutions, and senior care homes in the UK, Australia, and Spain.
She noted that Bupa already has a strong footprint in Australia, Hong Kong, and other emerging markets, and assured that the company would evaluate Andhra Pradesh’s GCC proposal positively through its senior leadership.
Driving Innovation Through Global Partnerships
This meeting marked another milestone in Nara Lokesh’s Australia tour, focused on attracting global investments, academic collaborations, and technology partnerships to accelerate Andhra Pradesh’s transformation into a hub for IT, healthcare innovation, and digital excellence.
