Marriott International to Establish First Offshore Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad

In a landmark move for both the hospitality and technology sectors, Marriott International has announced plans to establish its first offshore Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, India.
The facility, called the Marriott Tech Accelerator, will support the company’s global operations across 141 countries and territories, with a strong focus on technology, engineering, cybersecurity, and next-generation digital solutions.
A Milestone for the Hospitality Industry
This marks the first-ever GCC by a global hospitality company in India, signaling a major shift in how the industry leverages technology and innovation.
The new center is expected to become fully operational by Q1 2025, with around 300 professionals hired in the initial phase.
Drew Pinto, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue & Technology Officer at Marriott International, said the decision to set up in Hyderabad was driven by the city’s world-class talent and its strong reputation as a leading IT hub.
Hyderabad: The Preferred GCC Destination
Hyderabad continues to emerge as a top global destination for capability centers, currently hosting over 200 GCCs across various industries.
According to Telangana IT Minister Duddila Sridhar Babu, the state’s talent pool of over one million GCC-ready professionals—including 350,000 AI and chip design experts—is a major draw for global corporations.
The Minister added that Telangana’s progressive policies and robust digital infrastructure have made Hyderabad a natural choice for Fortune 500 firms looking to expand innovation and digital operations.
Strengthening India’s Tech and Business Ecosystem
Marriott’s decision comes at a time when Hyderabad is consolidating its leadership in India’s tech landscape.
Industry data shows that Hyderabad and Bengaluru together accounted for nearly 50% of India’s total tech-sector leasing in the first half of 2025, with Hyderabad alone contributing around 21%.
The Marriott Tech Accelerator also aligns with Telangana’s broader ambition to transform the state into a global hub for AI, data science, and IoT, with over 70 new GCCs established in FY25.
A Strategic Move for Marriott
For Marriott International, the Hyderabad GCC represents a strategic milestone in its 25-year journey in India.
The company currently operates over 150 hotels across the country and plans to expand its portfolio from 29,000 rooms to over 42,000 rooms in the coming years.
By setting up the Tech Accelerator, Marriott aims to leverage India’s digital talent not just for operational efficiency, but to drive innovation at a global scale.
Industry Perspective
Experts view this development as a paradigm shift in the hospitality sector—where technology and data are increasingly at the core of customer experience, sustainability, and business intelligence.
The Marriott Tech Accelerator reinforces the idea that India’s GCC ecosystem is no longer just a back-office model but a center of excellence powering global innovation and resilience.
Conclusion
As the Marriott Tech Accelerator takes shape in Hyderabad, it marks not just a milestone for the company but a defining moment for India’s GCC landscape.

With hospitality joining the ranks of IT, BFSI, pharma, and manufacturing in the GCC ecosystem, Hyderabad continues to stand tall as a truly global hub for innovation, technology, and enterprise transformation.
