Nara Lokesh, IT Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has urged Aiman Ezzat, CEO of Capgemini, to consider setting up an IT development centre and Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Visakhapatnam.
The discussion took place during a meeting held in Visakhapatnam on March 12, 2026, where the Andhra Pradesh government highlighted potential investment opportunities in the state.
Visakhapatnam Emerging as an IT Hub
During the meeting, Lokesh noted that Visakhapatnam is rapidly emerging as a major IT and data centre hub. He also mentioned that work on the country’s largest Google data centre is expected to begin soon.
The minister pointed out that major technology companies such as Cognizant and TCS already have an operational presence in the city, further strengthening the region’s IT ecosystem.
Potential Investment and Job Creation
Lokesh invited Capgemini to establish an IT development centre, a Global Capability Centre, and service centres for cloud services and BPM verticals in Visakhapatnam.
According to the minister, these investments could potentially create around 20,000 jobs in the region.
Collaboration with Universities and Emerging Technologies
The Andhra Pradesh government also requested Capgemini to act as a co-development partner with universities in the state to establish Emerging Technology Labs.
Additionally, Lokesh invited the company to explore opportunities to build a dedicated quantum technology vertical and collaborate with global partners in areas such as enterprise optimisation, financial services, and sustainability.
Capgemini to Review the Proposal
Responding to the invitation, Aiman Ezzat said that Capgemini would examine the proposals presented by the Andhra Pradesh government.
Founded in 1967 in Paris, Capgemini currently employs about 340,000 people worldwide, including nearly 200,000 employees in India, and operates across multiple cities including Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Noida, Kolkata, Gurugram, and Bhubaneswar.
