Hyderabad Emerges as India’s Top Destination for Greenfield GCCs, Surpassing Bengaluru

Attracts 40% of all new Global Capability Centers set up in India
Hyderabad has overtaken Bengaluru to become India’s leading destination for new greenfield Global Capability Centers (GCCs), attracting 40% of all such centers established over the past three years. In comparison, Bengaluru accounted for 33% during the same period, according to a recent report by staffing firm Xpheno.
A Growing Talent Powerhouse
With a base of 47.8 lakh accessible white-collar professionals, including 23.3 lakh with over a year of experience, Telangana has emerged as a highly attractive proposition for setting up new GCCs. The report also highlights the increasing participation of women in the workforce, who now form 33% of the GCC workforce in the state, with 19% representation in leadership roles.
“This highlights Telangana’s growing strategic importance on the national and global map of capability centres,” said Kamal Karanth, Co-founder of Xpheno.
A Mature and Expanding GCC Ecosystem
Telangana is currently home to over 360 GCCs, employing more than 3.1 lakh professionals, which accounts for 14% of the state’s total white-collar workforce. The report, Telangana: The Next-Gen GCC Powerhouse, underscores the state’s evolution into a vibrant hub for innovation and capability building.
“Telangana is fast emerging as India’s next-generation GCC powerhouse. With a vibrant, skilled workforce and progressive infrastructure, the State has become a magnet for global enterprises seeking sustainable talent ecosystems,” added Karanth.
Policy Support and Strategic Advantage
According to Xpheno’s CEO (Designate) Francis Padamadan, Telangana’s ability to attract and retain mid- and senior-level talent makes it a long-term strategic choice for global enterprises. “As new-age GCCs look for scale and leadership depth, Telangana’s strong policy support and access to 47 lakh-plus professionals position Hyderabad as a preferred hub for high-value capability centers,” he said.
Beyond IT: A Multi-Functional GCC Hub
The report further noted that Telangana’s GCC ecosystem has matured beyond its IT roots, evolving into a multi-functional, sector-agnostic powerhouse. Global firms are now setting up R&D, finance, supply chain, and advanced engineering functions in the state, reflecting the depth and maturity of its talent pool.
Conclusion
With its strong policy framework, talent density, gender diversity, and robust infrastructure, Hyderabad is redefining India’s GCC landscape. The city’s rapid rise as the top destination for greenfield GCCs signals Telangana’s transformation into a global hub for innovation, technology, and business excellence.
