Catalyst Brands plans to increase headcount at its Bengaluru Global Capability Centre (GCC) to around 1,000 employees by the end of the year, according to India Managing Director Nihar Nidhi.
The expansion reflects a growing share of global work being shifted to India as the company strengthens its GCC operations.
Scaling GCC Talent in India
The Bengaluru GCC headcount is expected to grow from around 650 employees at the start of the year to nearly 1,000 by year-end.
According to the company, the increase is driven by the transfer of more global business functions to India rather than an expansion in the company’s overall workforce.
India as a Strategic GCC Hub
Catalyst Brands highlighted India’s strong talent ecosystem as a key factor behind its GCC expansion strategy.
The company stated that India offers growing domain expertise and technology capabilities that support global business operations and digital transformation initiatives.
Expanding Digital and Business Functions
The Bengaluru GCC is taking on broader responsibilities across:
- Digital operations
- Creative services
- Planning and allocation
- Global customer care
The center is also emerging as a key hub for piloting AI-led initiatives, including automated product descriptions.
Focus on AI-Led Transformation
The company noted that productivity gains from AI are being used to redeploy employees into higher-value work rather than reduce hiring.
Leadership stated that the retail sector remains in the early stages of AI adoption, with Bengaluru expected to play a larger role in future AI-driven initiatives.
Consolidating Customer Support Operations
Catalyst Brands is also bringing customer support operations in-house and shifting more work from South America to Bengaluru.
The company plans to consolidate global customer care operations in India, with the transition expected to be largely completed over the next two quarters.
Continued Investment in Bengaluru Capabilities
According to leadership, the scale and quality of AI use cases emerging from Bengaluru are strengthening expectations that the city will lead future initiatives, supported by continued investment in talent and capabilities.
