Workday to Set Up Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Chennai with ₹220 Crore Investment

CHENNAI, INDIA: Workday, the US-based cloud-based software provider, is set to establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Chennai, with an investment of approximately ₹220 crores. This state-of-the-art facility will serve as a strategic hub for product and technology development, with a focus on advancing next-generation Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to support Workday’s global operations.

The announcement comes after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Workday officials and Guidance in the presence of Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister TRB Rajaa. The facility, which is expected to create up to 3,000 jobs, will play a key role in the development of Workday’s cloud-based enterprise solutions, which are primarily used for human capital management, financial management, and enterprise resource planning.

Workday’s decision to set up this facility in Chennai aligns with the company’s broader strategy to expand its presence in India, particularly in the technology sector. The new centre will focus on building innovative solutions powered by AI, contributing to the growth of Workday’s SaaS offerings in both domestic and international markets.
