Telangana Welcomes US Cybersecurity Firm Sonatype’s New Global Capability Center in Hyderabad

Strengthening its position as a global innovation hub, the Telangana government has inaugurated a new Global Capability Center (GCC) established by US-based cybersecurity leader Sonatype in Hyderabad’s HiTech City.
The announcement was made by the Telangana IT and Industries Department on Monday, November 10. The new center marks Sonatype’s largest and fastest-growing R&D hub worldwide, focusing on AI/ML-driven software security, cloud-native development, and open-source intelligence.
Building India’s Cybersecurity Innovation Ecosystem
Speaking at the event, Abhishek Chauhan, Chief Product Development Officer at Sonatype, revealed that the center currently employs 50 professionals and plans to expand its workforce to over 200 deep-tech engineers, product leaders, data scientists, and AI experts by next year.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Sanjay Kumar, Special Chief Secretary for IT and Industries, and Sai Krishna, IT Advisor to Minister Sridhar Babu, alongside Sonatype’s leadership team.
Hyderabad: A Global GCC Powerhouse
“Hyderabad has quickly become one of the fastest-growing hubs for Global Capability Centers,” said Sanjay Kumar. “By next year, the city will reach its milestone of 500 GCCs, generating thousands of high-value technology jobs and reinforcing its position as a global hub for talent and innovation.”
Sonatype’s Global Vision for Responsible AI
Bhagwat Swaroop, CEO of Sonatype, emphasized India’s growing role in shaping the global technology landscape. “India is leading a global technology transformation — not only as a hub for engineering excellence, but as a model for how nations can embrace AI responsibly and securely. Hyderabad has become a magnet for the world’s most innovative companies,” he said.
The Bigger Picture
With the addition of Sonatype’s GCC, Telangana continues to attract high-value global technology investments, especially in the cybersecurity and AI domains. The move aligns with the state’s broader goal of positioning Hyderabad as a leader in digital innovation and research-driven talent development.
