Tamil Nadu Reclaims Its Position as a GCC Powerhouse, Says Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa

Tamil Nadu Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to becoming a leading destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), emphasizing that Tamil Nadu is not merely catching up with other states but “regaining lost ground.” Speaking on the state’s economic vision, Rajaa highlighted Tamil Nadu’s renewed focus on fostering corporate innovation, technology excellence, and AI-driven transformation.
Rajaa acknowledged that constraints on Floor Space Index (FSI) have posed challenges to constructing large office towers—an essential requirement for major GCCs. However, he assured that the state government is actively working to remove such bottlenecks to attract more global firms. “We are correcting the systems to ensure we can get GCCs to Tamil Nadu,” he said, signaling a pro-business and reform-oriented approach.
Hosur Emerging as Tamil Nadu’s Next GCC Growth Hub
Positioning Hosur as the next major center for GCC expansion, Rajaa remarked, “Hosur will become the next Bengaluru as GCCs kick off there.” He noted that Hosur’s industrial ecosystem, strategic location, and proximity to Bengaluru’s talent pool make it an ideal choice for multinational firms setting up technology and R&D operations.
Focus on AI and Automation for the Next Wave of GCC Growth
Highlighting the technological transformation underway, Rajaa called on companies to embrace automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and next-generation digital solutions. “GCCs need to reinvent themselves. What better place to do that than in Chennai? We can leapfrog straight to agentic AI and capture that market,” he said, underlining Tamil Nadu’s readiness to lead in AI-led innovation and digital transformation.
Talent Advantage: Tamil Nadu’s Competitive Edge
Despite growing competition from other Indian metros, Rajaa emphasized that Tamil Nadu’s greatest strength lies in its highly skilled workforce. “TN is the talent capital of India—that’s an edge no other state has,” he asserted. With a strong base of engineering and IT professionals, the state continues to attract multinational firms across banking, technology, automotive, and life sciences sectors.
Conclusion

With policy reforms, infrastructure upgrades, and a strong focus on innovation and skill development, Tamil Nadu is poised to reclaim its position as a premier GCC destination in India. The government’s efforts to unlock new industrial corridors like Hosur and enhance ease of doing business signal a new era of high-value global investments and technology-driven growth.
