Why India? Talent, Tech & Efficiency
According to Sanjay Puri, Country Manager, SolarEdge India, the GCC setup in India allows the company to leverage top-tier talent in engineering and analytics. “Earlier, each region independently managed their solar systems. Now, we are consolidating our monitoring and management operations under one roof in India to harness local expertise and improve efficiency,” he said in an interview with The Hindu.
Key Features of the India GCC
- Real-Time Remote Monitoring: The Bengaluru team uses virtual dashboards to track energy production, consumption, and battery storage across global installations
- 24/7 Fault Diagnosis & Troubleshooting: Engineers can remotely detect faults in meters and inverters, attend to error messages, adjust system settings, and optimise performance in real time
- Enhanced Performance Analytics: The GCC can generate system performance reports and yield forecasts, helping PV system owners ensure higher uptime, lower maintenance costs, and maximised energy harvesting.
- Module-Level Insights: Monitoring is available at module, string, and system levels, enabling granular fault detection and precise alerting
Growing Presence in India
SolarEdge is also scaling up its India operations. With a current workforce of 400 employees, the company plans to hire 200 more professionals, including hardware engineers, software developers, electrical and mechanical engineers, power system experts, and IoT specialists.
“We aim to increase our market share in India’s PV sector from 5% to 10% in the coming years,” said Puri. The company’s offerings include smart inverters, power optimisers, energy storage solutions, and EV charging systems, all of which will benefit from the increased R&D and technical monitoring capabilities at the Bengaluru GCC.
