Silicon Labs (NASDAQ: SLAB) has announced a 50% expansion of its Hyderabad facility, reinforcing the center’s growing role in the company’s global engineering and wireless innovation strategy. The expansion ceremony was attended by Laura E. Williams, U.S. Consul General in Hyderabad, highlighting the strength of U.S.–India technology collaboration.
Hyderabad GCC Strengthens Global Engineering Backbone
Headquartered in Austin, Silicon Labs continues to deepen its India operations through this significant infrastructure scale-up in Hyderabad.
The 50% increase in footprint adds:
Since launching operations in Hyderabad in 2020, Silicon Labs has more than tripled its India-based workforce. The center today supports core functions across R&D, engineering, product development, operations, sales, technical marketing, and IT — positioning it as a critical global capability hub within the company’s worldwide operations.
Driving Global Wireless Innovation from India
Matt Johnson, President and CEO of Silicon Labs, described Hyderabad as a critical hub in the company’s global engineering and operations footprint.
“This expansion is a long-term investment in talent, innovation, and global collaboration. It strengthens our ability to deliver secure, power-efficient wireless solutions worldwide while deepening collaboration across the United States, Europe, and Asia.”
The expanded facility is designed to enhance advanced development capabilities across software, hardware, and wireless connectivity technologies — key pillars of Silicon Labs’ global wireless portfolio.
Manish Kothari, Senior Vice President of Software Development, emphasized that scaling the Hyderabad site builds greater capacity for invention and execution, strengthening its role as a core R&D center.
U.S.–India Technology Partnership in Focus
The presence of U.S. Consul General Laura E. Williams at the inauguration underscored the broader economic and innovation partnership between the two countries.
“The continued growth of U.S. technology investment in India reflects the deep collaboration between our two countries,” Williams noted.
The ceremony was attended by Silicon Labs’ global leadership, including President and CEO Matt Johnson, CFO Dean Butler, SVP Manish Kothari, CIO Radhika Chennakeshavula, and Nestor Ho, Chief Legal Officer and VP of Government Affairs and Public Policy.
Expanding India’s Role in Global Product Development
With operations in more than 16 countries, Silicon Labs develops low-power wireless connectivity solutions for smart home, industrial IoT, and smart cities markets.
The Hyderabad expansion further elevates the site’s role in global product development, engineering execution, and operational excellence, positioning it as a strategically important Global Capability Center supporting the company’s long-term wireless innovation roadmap.
