Shell to Expand Integrated Gas and GCC Footprint in India: Mansi Tripathy

Shell plc plans to scale up its operations in India by expanding its integrated gas ecosystem and Global Capability Centres (GCCs), according to Mansi Tripathy, senior vice president for APAC lubricants and country chair, Shell India, in an interview with Business Standard.
Expanding Integrated Gas Operations
Shell India intends to sign additional liquefied natural gas (LNG) deals with local partners and enhance the capacity of its 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) LNG regasification terminal at Hazira, Surat.
The company supplied around 10% of India’s 26.6 million tonnes of LNG imports in 2024, reflecting its strong position in the country’s gas market.
Promoting New Gas Applications
Shell is working with the government and industry partners to expand the use of gas in India. The focus areas include gas-to-power solutions, increased adoption of LNG in the transport sector, and efforts to bring gas under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework to encourage wider usage.
Expanding Global Capability Centres
Alongside its energy business, Shell plans to expand its Global Capability Centres in India. The company already operates GCCs supporting global finance and IT functions, reinforcing India’s role as a strategic operational hub within Shell’s global network.
Strengthening Lubricants Business
In addition to gas and GCC expansion, Shell is also strengthening its lubricants business in India as part of its broader growth strategy.
Conclusion
Shell’s plans to deepen its integrated gas operations and expand its GCC footprint highlight India’s growing importance in the company’s global strategy. The move reflects continued investment in both energy infrastructure and enterprise capabilities in the country.
