Kerala is setting the stage for the next generation of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) with the announcement of Infopark Phase 3, envisioned as India’s first Artificial Intelligence-controlled city.
Unveiled by Industry Minister P. Rajeev, this pioneering project at Infopark Kochi will merge cutting-edge AI infrastructure with sustainable urban design — creating a future-ready ecosystem for global enterprises to build and scale their capability centers.
An AI-Powered Urban Innovation Hub
Infopark Phase 3, located in Kakkanad, will operate through an advanced “City Brain” — a centralized AI system that will monitor and manage all city functions.
From traffic and waste management to energy optimization and emergency response, AI will power every layer of the city’s operations, ensuring efficiency, security, and continuous improvement.
“This will be an AI city where smart facilities and infrastructure will operate with the help of AI,” said Minister P. Rajeev.
A GCC-Ready Environment
Designed as a mixed-use digital township, Infopark Phase 3 goes beyond the traditional IT park model. It will integrate:
- IT campuses and business zones for tech and innovation-driven enterprises
- Residential, educational, and healthcare facilities for employees and their families
- Smart infrastructure and digital platforms to ensure seamless operations
Such integrated ecosystems align perfectly with what multinational companies seek when establishing GCCs — access to high-quality infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and an innovation-friendly environment.
Sustainability Meets Smart Technology
The AI City will be environmentally friendly and carbon negative, using artificial intelligence to:
- Manage transportation and energy consumption efficiently
- Enable rainwater harvesting and water reuse
- Optimize waste management and urban mobility
These sustainable measures reinforce Kerala’s vision of responsible tech-driven growth, appealing to GCCs focused on ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) goals.
Kerala’s Growing Role in the GCC Landscape
Infopark Phase 3 complements Kerala’s broader digital roadmap, alongside initiatives like the fourth phase of Infopark — which aims to attract ₹3,000 crore in investment and create 50,000 jobs.
Together, these projects are positioning Kochi as a strategic GCC hub — combining world-class infrastructure, AI innovation, and a strong talent base.
A Vision for the Future
By integrating AI, sustainability, and innovation, Infopark Phase 3 represents more than just an expansion — it’s Kerala’s blueprint for future-ready GCC ecosystems that can attract global players in technology, analytics, and digital transformation.
Kochi is no longer just a growing IT hub — it’s evolving into a smart, AI-powered destination for the world’s next-generation Global Capability Centers.
