India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs) witnessed a steady 5–7% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase in hiring during the second quarter of FY26, according to a report by Quess Corp, a leading staffing and workforce solutions provider.
The growth reflects a shift from headcount expansion to capability-building, with demand concentrated in AI and data, platform engineering, cloud and FinOps, and cybersecurity roles.
Sectoral Drivers of GCC Growth
The report highlighted that sectors such as BFSI, Manufacturing, Automotive, Energy, Technology, and Hardware are now the primary drivers of GCC expansion:
- BFSI: AI-enabled credit and risk operations
- Manufacturing: Electric vehicle (EV) and smart-factory programs
- Technology & Hardware: Semiconductor and embedded AI development
Hiring budgets are increasingly directed toward revenue-critical and resilience-focused functions, emphasizing platform engineering, data management, and FinOps roles.
City-Wise Hiring Trends
- Bengaluru: 26% share, strong traction in advanced AI and FinOps roles
- Hyderabad: 22% share, growth in multi-cloud integration and data reliability
- Pune: 15% share
- Chennai: 12% share
“India’s GCC evolution is entering its most strategic phase yet, one defined by precision, not proliferation. Q2 reflected a measured 5–7% QoQ hiring growth, highlighting a shift from scale to capability-led maturity,” said Kapil Joshi, CEO – IT Staffing, Quess Corp.
Role-Specific Insights
- AI and Data Science roles: 8% increase
- FinOps-driven cloud hiring: 6% increase
This underscores GCCs’ focus on performance optimization, cost efficiency, and enterprise resilience.
GCC Ecosystem Outlook
India currently hosts around 1,850 active GCCs employing over 2 million professionals, with projections to reach 2.5 million by 2030. Sustainable growth will depend on:
- Strengthening tier-2 delivery centres
- Investing in skill development
- Embedding capability-based operating models across GCCs
Conclusion
The Q2 FY26 hiring data indicates that India’s GCC ecosystem is maturing, prioritizing high-value digital skills and strategic capabilities over mere headcount expansion. This positions India as a global hub for AI, platform engineering, and cloud-driven operations.
