India’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) sector maintained a robust 12% year-on-year growth in job postings in July 2025, according to the latest foundit Insights Tracker. Recruitment across India rose 19% YoY, even as quarter-on-quarter hiring remained flat and month-on-month declined slightly by 2%, reflecting resilience amid a shifting global IT landscape.
Metro cities, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Mumbai, and NCR, dominated hiring with 91% of GCC jobs, growing 11% YoY, while Tier-2 cities such as Kochi, Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, Indore, and Jaipur surged 21% YoY, highlighting geographic diversification.
Sector-wise, IT/R&D led GCC hiring, accounting for 38% of jobs with 12% YoY growth, followed by BFSI/Fintech (21%) and Manufacturing & Engineering (11%), illustrating a diverse sectoral spread. Functionally, IT roles comprised 36% of jobs, while customer service (BPM/KPO) accounted for 18%, engineering/production 11%, and finance & accounts 9%, indicating broader maturity and operational sophistication.
Entry-level talent (0–3 years’ experience) drove hiring, representing 42% of GCC roles, including software engineers, QA testers, data analysts, and finance operations, while mid-level and senior roles filled 26%, 17%, and 15% collectively, emphasizing strong demand for fresh talent alongside leadership development.
Industry trends showed steady IT hiring, particularly in AI, cloud, and cybersecurity, alongside strong growth in FMCG (+31% YoY) driven by early festive season demand. Sectors such as Media & Entertainment and Travel & Tourism saw modest gains, while Energy and Import & Export contracted due to global slowdowns. Overall, the report underscores India’s position as the world’s preferred location for building high-value global teams, with GCCs expanding beyond metro hubs into Tier-2 cities and leveraging fresh talent to fuel growth and resilience.
