India Emerges as the Global Epicenter for Innovation and GCC Growth: LG Manoj Sinha

During the 16th Convocation Ceremony of NIT Raipur, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha underscored India’s growing position as the global powerhouse for innovation and Global Capability Centers (GCCs). He emphasized that India’s talent, technological capabilities, and research-driven mindset are fueling the world’s next innovation wave.
India: The Global Hub for GCCs and Innovation
Highlighting the country’s rapid evolution in the global technology landscape, Shri Sinha noted that India has become the global epicenter for GCCs, with nearly 90% of them now functioning as multi-functional innovation units. These centers are not just delivery hubs — they are leading global operations, product engineering, and R&D for some of the world’s biggest enterprises.
“By 2030, the number of GCCs in India will increase significantly, transforming the country into a powerhouse of innovation,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
GCCs Driving Economic and Technological Growth
According to Sinha, the GCC model has redefined India’s role in the global economy. The country’s diverse engineering talent and thriving digital ecosystem have positioned it as the preferred destination for companies building next-generation capabilities in AI, automation, and product development.
From Hyderabad and Bengaluru to emerging cities like Raipur and Indore, India’s innovation ecosystem is now witnessing the rise of mid-market GCCs that combine agility, digital expertise, and global scalability.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that advancements in machine learning, generative AI, and autonomous systems will redefine industries and create massive opportunities for India’s technology professionals. GCCs, he said, are at the forefront of this transformation — leading global innovation initiatives and fostering skill-based employment.
“The future belongs to those who can merge innovation with purpose,” Sinha remarked, encouraging young engineers to harness technology for sustainable, inclusive growth.
