From Engineering Outpost to Strategic GCC
Though Commvault has had a presence in India for nearly two decades, a strategic shift in 2019 elevated India from a traditional engineering site to a Global Capability Center (GCC). Under CEO Sanjay Mirchandani, Commvault India now handles product development, platform engineering, threat analysis, customer operations, and global service delivery, becoming the company’s largest global center with over 1,300 employees.
AI and Cyber Resilience at the Core
Commvault has built AI-led capabilities in India, including Arlie, a platform that uses historical data to detect anomalies, recommend recovery paths, and anticipate attacks. The Cloud Rewind initiative, developed post the Appranix acquisition, enables enterprises to roll back cloud workloads to a clean state, enhancing resilience across multi-cloud and SaaS environments.
India as a Live Cyber Resilience Lab
India’s high digital adoption and frequent cyber threats provide Commvault with a real-time testing environment to refine detection models, stress-test resilience tools, and accelerate innovation, driving global outcomes from the Indian GCC.
Talent, Ecosystem, and Future Focus
Commvault’s India operations span product engineering, cloud operations, security, customer experience, and finance. The company invests in startups and AI/cybersecurity initiatives, while programs like Pratidhi develop early-career talent, particularly women from tier-II and tier-III colleges.
Looking ahead, Commvault aims to deepen technical ownership and enterprise-level impact in India, positioning its GCC as a strategic center for innovation, resilience, and global service delivery.
