Carbon Clean, a global leader in carbon capture technologies, has officially inaugurated its Global Innovation Centre (GIC) in Navi Mumbai, marking a significant milestone in the company’s mission to decarbonise hard-to-abate industries. Spanning over 77,000 sq. ft., the GIC is set to become one of the world’s largest dedicated carbon capture research facilities.
Advancing Carbon Capture at Scale
The GIC will serve as a hub for research, innovation, and technology demonstration, housing two operational carbon capture plants and state-of-the-art laboratories for solvent development and testing. It will also host a growing workforce of 100+ experts, with plans to expand to 350 employees, supporting Carbon Clean’s R&D and global growth strategy
Focus on Innovation & Industrial Decarbonisation
The centre will fast-track the development and deployment of CycloneCC, Carbon Clean’s modular, space-efficient, and scalable carbon capture technology. Designed for industries like cement, steel, refineries, and energy from waste, CycloneCC offers a cost-effective pathway to industrial decarbonisation.
“The GIC will be a game-changer in scaling our technology and accelerating next-gen carbon capture solutions,” said Aniruddha Sharma, Chair and CEO, Carbon Clean. “As a UK-headquartered company founded in India, this investment reflects our deep commitment to global industrial decarbonisation and India’s innovation ecosystem.”

UK-India Collaboration in Clean Growth
The GIC inauguration was attended by Ajita Hathlia, Deputy Director, Trade and UK Exports, South Asia, along with global partners, investors, and board members. The UK Government has played a key role in supporting Carbon Clean through over £5 million in grants and strategic collaborations over the past decade.
“This marks a significant moment in UK-India clean growth collaboration,” said Harjinder Kang, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner to South Asia. “Carbon Clean exemplifies the kind of UK innovation we aim to support in India’s expanding clean-tech sector.”
