Atlassian Expands India Footprint with New World-Class R&D Centre in Bengaluru

Atlassian, the global leader in team collaboration and productivity software (including Jira, Confluence, and Loom), has opened a new state-of-the-art R&D Centre in Bengaluru, reaffirming India’s role as a cornerstone of its global innovation strategy.

Spanning 200,000+ square feet, the new facility is four times larger than its previous office in Bengaluru, underscoring Atlassian’s commitment to India’s technology ecosystem and its focus on building cutting-edge solutions for the global market.
India: A Strategic Hub for Atlassian’s Growth
Since its entry into India in 2018 with just 60 employees, Atlassian has rapidly grown its local workforce to over 2,500 professionals, making it the company’s largest employee base outside Australia and the US.

Nearly 75% of Atlassian’s India team works in R&D, contributing to key product innovations in enterprise search, commerce, data residency, and customer success. With this expansion, Bengaluru is cementing its role as a core innovation hub in Atlassian’s global network.

The Bengaluru R&D Centre is built to support Atlassian’s Team Anywhere policy—a distributed-first approach enabling employees to work from wherever they are most effective.
