Global steel and mining major ArcelorMittal has established new Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in Hyderabad and Pune. The centres will operate under a newly formed entity, ArcelorMittal Global Business & Technologies (AMGBT).
AMGBT has been created to deliver integrated technology, digital innovation, and global business services, supporting ArcelorMittal’s operations, particularly across Europe.
Driving Enterprise-Wide Transformation
The GCCs will house a broad range of functions, including digital technology, IT infrastructure, data and analytics, cybersecurity, finance and accounting, among others. Through standardized processes, advanced analytics, and scalable digital platforms, the centres aim to enhance operational efficiency and drive innovation across the company’s global businesses.
Leadership Participation in Digital Inauguration
The GCCs were digitally inaugurated by Lakshmi Mittal, along with Vijay Goyal, Executive Vice President and Regional CEO – Ukraine, Development Initiatives, and EME JVs, and Stephanie Werner-Dietz, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Human Resources.
Leadership emphasized India’s growing strategic importance across multiple business segments, highlighting the role of continuous learning, technological agility, and young talent in shaping the global economy.
Talent Development and Growth Focus
Stephanie Werner-Dietz reaffirmed the company’s commitment to talent development through structured growth opportunities, strong learning frameworks, and a continued focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
Nik Puri, Group CIO and CISO, noted that AMGBT is already delivering globally scaled projects, marking the beginning of a longer journey toward building centres of excellence supported by Hyderabad’s talent ecosystem and collaborative culture.
Expansion and Hiring Plans
Looking ahead, AMGBT plans to hire nearly 2,000 professionals across digital technology, IT infrastructure, data science, cybersecurity, and global business services functions. The expansion reflects ArcelorMittal’s long-term commitment to leveraging India’s talent pool to support enterprise-wide transformation and technology-enabled value creation.
