Andhra Pradesh to Get Its First GCC Innovation Campus in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh is set to host its first dedicated Global Capability Centre (GCC) Innovation Campus, with the Andhra Pradesh government partnering with ANSR, a global leader in establishing and managing GCCs.

The agreement was formalised by Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh during his roadshow in Bengaluru, where a pact was signed with ANSR to invest in the Madhurawada IT Cluster and build a state-of-the-art innovation campus.

According to government estimates, this initiative is expected to generate over 10,000 jobs in the next five years, significantly boosting the region’s IT and technology employment landscape.
ANSR’s Commitment to Visakhapatnam
Lalit Ahuja, CEO of ANSR, expressed strong optimism about Visakhapatnam’s potential:

“Visakhapatnam is poised to do wonders with its combination of world-class talent, strong infrastructure and visionary leadership. The innovation campus we are establishing here will become a preferred destination for leading global enterprises.”

ANSR has extensive experience in the GCC sector, having helped establish 135 Global Capability Centres with around $2 billion in investments worldwide. The company plans to leverage Andhra Pradesh’s rich talent ecosystem to attract and enable global companies to set up their technology and innovation hubs in Visakhapatnam
Driving Andhra Pradesh’s Digital Vision
Speaking at the event, IT Minister Nara Lokesh outlined the state’s broader mission of creating 2 million jobs over the next four years, including 500,000 jobs in the IT and GCC sectors alone.

“We’re beginning this journey from Visakhapatnam not just as a target but as a movement. Visakhapatnam is a unique blend of the best aspects of Bengaluru and Goa. Our vision is to transform it into not only a business-friendly city but also a magnet for the top talent.”

Lokesh highlighted Google’s plan to set up its first and largest data center outside the US in Visakhapatnam and the development of India’s largest data city in the region. This data city will feature enhanced cloud-computing infrastructure, AI labs, analytics hubs, and advanced computing clusters, laying the foundation for Visakhapatnam to become a global digital leadership hub.
Strategic Incentives and Infrastructure Push
To attract global players, the Andhra Pradesh government has allocated land at highly subsidized rates (₹0.99 per acre) to leading companies like TCS and Cognizant.

“GCCs play a pivotal role in our economic growth strategy. Attracting global players within a few months is our first major achievement,” Lokesh said.

The government is also aligning academic curricula with GCC industry requirements, with a focus on cloud computing, AI, cybersecurity, and product engineering, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled talent to meet the growing demand in technology sectors.
Emerging Cities Framework and Connectivity Boost
Under the Emerging Cities Framework, Andhra Pradesh is also developing smart infrastructure in Amaravati, Tirupati, Anantapur, and Kakinada. The construction of the Bhogapuram International Airport is underway to significantly enhance air connectivity for global businesses and travelers.

State IT Secretary Katamneni Bhaskar also attended the announcement, underscoring the government’s commitment to transforming Visakhapatnam into a world-class hub for technology and innovation.
Conclusion
The partnership with ANSR to establish the first GCC Innovation Campus in Visakhapatnam represents a major step forward in Andhra Pradesh’s digital and economic growth strategy. With robust infrastructure development, strategic incentives, and a focus on talent, Visakhapatnam is set to become a preferred destination for global enterprises seeking to establish technology and innovation hubs in India.
