Accor and InterGlobe Enterprises have announced the appointment of Gaurav Bhushan as Chairman of their proposed joint hospitality venture in India. With this, the companies are charting an ambitious path for growth, targeting a network of 300 hotels across India by 2030.
Key Highlights:
- First Ennismore Hotel in India: The new entity will launch India’s first Ennismore-branded lifestyle hotel by the end of 2025. Ennismore is Accor’s fast-growing lifestyle brand known for immersive experiences.
- 360° Hospitality Platform: Bhushan emphasized that the venture will go beyond traditional hotels to build a comprehensive lifestyle hospitality ecosystem, encompassing restaurants, member clubs, and live entertainment venues.
- Asset-Light Strategy: Future expansion will be predominantly through an asset-light model, with most properties developed via partnerships rather than owned outright.
- Autonomous Hospitality Entity: The joint venture will be an independent organization managing both Accor and Ennismore’s brand portfolios. It will handle development, operations, and management under a unified structure to streamline processes and accelerate growth.
- Treebo Collaboration: Accor and InterGlobe will jointly invest in and become majority stakeholders in Treebo. Under a master license agreement, Treebo will lead the development of Ibis and Mercure brands in India.
Gaurav Bhushan on India’s Hospitality Outlook:
“The market is ready. We’re not just bringing hotels—we’re curating experiences through food, entertainment, and lifestyle. India is at an inflection point, and this is the right time to reset and scale.”
Strategic Rationale:
The move reflects the growing potential of India’s hospitality and lifestyle sectors. InterGlobe’s deep roots in Indian aviation and Accor’s expanding global brand footprint set the stage for what could be one of the most dynamic hospitality ventures in the country.
