Albertsons, one of the largest food and drug retailers in the United States, has announced the appointment of Sunil Gopinath as the head of its newly established Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India. Gopinath, who officially takes charge in September, brings with him nearly a decade of leadership experience from Rakuten, where he led the Japanese e-commerce giant’s India operations.
The India GCC marks a strategic milestone for Albertsons as it looks to scale operations, enhance digital innovation, and strengthen global market support. Over the next 18 months, the centre plans to hire 1,000 employees, focusing on advanced technologies and customer-centric solutions.
